In all honesty, I absolutely hate reading Kindle editions – especially when it comes to learning this digital marketing stuff.
Because they’re not always step-by-step and can also be outdated at times.
But I’m so glad I made an exception on this occasion because Ian’s ‘From Nothing’ book is bloody brill, I tell ya!
I’ve literally read it MULTIPLE times (from cover-to-cover) and it gets better every time.
Pretty much like a vintage bottle of wine, but with age LOL.
If you’ve been struggling to start an online business for whatever reason(s), From Nothing will certainly provide you with the essential building blocks for success.
In my opinion, it’s one of the best books I’ve read all the way through.
Because it’s jam-packed full of golden nuggets that can actually help you start and grow a successful WordPress blog from scratch.
But as with any training course: Only if you put in the work.
My Score & Final Verdict: 10/10 (Highly Recommended).

And how Ian can help YOU too…
Who is This “Ian Pribyl” Fella, You Ask?
Like you and I, Ian Pribyl (aka “Pribs”) is a normal human being wanting to make the most of life on planet earth.
At the ripe old age of 16, he took the plunge with this internet marketing “thing”.
Fast forward 15 years…
And Pribs has become a 6-figure marketing ninja – crushing it with affiliate marketing, eCommerce, and an optometric and optical Biz that he’s a co-founder of.
Which led him to create a $0 step-by-step video training course called Free Internet Marketing Project and of course, FIMP’s sibling, From Nothing.
Meet the ledge with his wonderful wife, Regina.

What’s From Nothing All About?
Released at the start of 2019, From Nothing contains 308 whole pages of sheer delight.
In Ian’s own words:
“It’s the step-by-step book putting GURUS out of business – the only affiliate marketing and blogging training you’ll ever need”.
Ha, I like it!
More specifically, from his own experience, Pribs guides you through the steps of building a highly lucrative online business from scratch for less than $200!
He’ll teach and show you in-depth stuff on the following topics:
- The fundamentals of choosing a niche
- Building your own WordPress blog (+ optimizing it for SEO)
- Doing keyword research the right way
- Producing high-quality and search engine rankable content for traffic
And finally turning those organic website visitors into cash via affiliate marketing, eCommerce or any other preferred money-making channel.
So if you’re new to the online Biz world or just want to explore a new way of growing your current online/offline Biz…
Then From Nothing is your cuppa!
But expect there to be a learning curve because there’s never anything quick or easy about creating your own online empire, right?

Instead of rambling on about the book’s contents…
Here Are 7 FIMP-Tastic Things I Learned From Pribs…
I won’t dive into the FULL Ins and outs of Ian’s ‘From Nothing’ publication because why spoil the surprise, eh? 😉
So here’s just a small taste of what’s to come – 7 things that I wish I knew before embarking on my own blogging and affiliate marketing adventure yonks ago.
Gosh, that statement makes me sound prehistoric!
I’m only 40 years young (at the time of writing), though LOL.
#1: Reverse Math (X, Y, Z)
If there’s a certain amount of passive income you want to generate from you Biz, Pribs teaches you an easy equation to follow for breaking things down:
- X = Income
- Y = Customer Numbers
- Z = $ Per Customer
The formula works like this: Y x Z = X.
So, for example, in my words, let’s say you want to earn $1,000 per month from a product that pays you a $10 commission per sale…
Then 100 of your website visitors must make a purchase each month.
That’s as simple as it gets.
Trust me, you don’t need to be an Einstein to know this stuff – even if it took me a couple of times to wrap my own head around it.
#2: Essential Mindset (Become a Tough Cookie)
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about blogging, it’s that there are plenty of ups and downs.
Which is why Pribs says an “iron mindset” is a must to push past those painful moments because it will lead to the most amazing success.
But what really brought it home for me with Ian’s mindset training is that setting “monetary” goals is basically setting you up for a train wreck.
He recommends setting yourself “task-based” goals instead because you actually have control over them when it comes to internet marketing.
It makes sense when you think about it…
Planning to achieve monetary goals by certain time frames only puts pressure on yourself and takes the enjoyment out of building your online Biz too, in my experience.
So just do the work daily, have heaps of FUN along the journey, and success will eventually follow.
In fact, see ‘My Online Startup’ (free course) – there’s a fab module on mindset and goal setting (just ignore the monetary goals part lol) that can make a nice addition to Ian’s advice.
#3: Choosing The Perfect Niche (Perfection?!)
Sadly, we don’t live in a “Perfect Peter” world – especially when it comes to the digital marketing space.
But as far as niche selection goes, Pribs helps you to choose an “almost perfect” niche using in-depth methods besides your hobbies, interests, and passions,
He guides you through some awesome processes that involve travelling back in time to your golden school years, old jobs, and painful moments in your life.
Because, they, might just hold the golden key to your online success.
But even if the path (niche) you choose doesn’t work or you fall out of love with it down the road, you can always pick another and start again.
Which is the beauty of blogging – it’s a world of ample opportunity.
#4: Internet Marketing Economics (Show Me The Money!)
Pribs teaches you the “smart way” to generate a full-time income from your website.
Let’s say that you recommend some product or service that rewards you with $1 from each sale.
That means you need 1,000 peeps to buy from your site on a monthly basis for a $1,000/month income.
So it’s crucial to recommend a product that sells for a fair price and offers you a decent commission percentage because you’ll need fewer customers.
Speaking of crappy commissions, get your copy of From Nothing below (via my affiliate link), where I probably won’t even earn enough for a candy bar!
#5: Domain Names (Your Piece of Cyberspace)
Did you know there’s actually a nack to choosing a good domain name?
I always assumed it was a case of picking one that sounded OK and just rolling with it.
When it comes to picking the “right” domain for success, Pribs guides you through a crucial process of choosing one that:
- Is a .COM (top priority) followed by a .NET or .ORG
- Is brandable, short & memorable
- Contains your route keyword
- Doesn’t contain hyphens or numbers
There are various reasons for these criteria, which Pribs explains in his book.
#6: Yoast SEO Plugin (A Real Game-Changer!)
I was always under the impression that the ‘All In One SEO’ plugin for WordPress was the bee’s knees!
But after replacing it with Yoast, how mistaken was I!?
I’m not saying you can’t create a successful blog using the AIOS plugin, I’m just saying it’s not a patch on Yoast.
Since using Ian’s SEO plugin recommendation, it’s helped me to spot and fix no end of mistakes throughout my blog posts…
Mistakes, that have had a damaging effect on my Google
Yoast comes with heaps of awesome SEO and readability features that not only keep you on the right track with your efforts.
But also allow you to have the upper hand on your “non-Yoast” competitors’, in my opinion.
#7: Free Keywod Tools (Save a Few Bob)
For many years, I was under the illusion that “paid” keyword tools were the only way to go for Google rankings and website traffic.
But it wasn’t until Pribs opened up my eyes to an online world full of possibilities when it comes to doing keyword research, the $0 way.
Pribs shows you how to use and combine Google’s Keyword Planner and MozBar for finding targeted keywords to produce content around and rank for.
However, the only downside to this approach is that it’s time-consuming.
But totally worth it to save yourself a few bucks until you acquire the funds for upgrading to a time-saving tool like LongTailPro (which Ian recommends, BTW).
Final Conclusion: Is Ian Pribyl’s ‘From Nothing’ Worth it?
If you have to ask me that question, then please see a doctor!
In all seriousness, Ian’s ‘From Nothing’ book is a must-read, without a shadow of a doubt.
Not only does Ian lay out the path to blogging and affiliate marketing in a simple step-by-step format that’s easy for newbs to implement.
But what he teaches is evergreen stuff – ethical strategies that will enable you to create a successful online Biz until the end of time.
So whatcha waiting for?…
The next dirty scam artist or crappy WarriorPlus product to come along and rip you off?…
Your buddy, Neil 😀
Got any questions or thoughts on Ian’s Kindle book? Feel free to leave us a juicy comment downstairs…
Hi Neil. Thank you for the very interesting review. I just started my own online business and to be fair sometimes I’m overwhelmed with the number of things I need to learn.
But looking at your review about “from nothing” it’s a great starting point for all beginners. Looking forward to test it in practice.
It’s my pleasure!
I can totally relate, there’s a steep learning curve to building an online Biz. But once you get all the basics nailed and continually learn and apply on a daily basis, the process gets easier.
Let me know how you get on with the book. 🙂
I love this review of From Nothing. At the end there is no doubt in my mind where you stand on this book. LOL
But seriously you show some of the good points Ian Pribyl brings up like moving our focus from being money focused to focusing on task based goals. I think that is the best way then the money comes in after everything is set up right.
He is basically taking a different road to all the big Gurus out there and I appreciate that.
That’s awesome, Kevin! 🙂
I couldn’t agree more! Too many of us focus on the “money” aspect of building an online business, which also sucks the enjoyment out of it, in my experience. So it’s certainly refreshing to be shown a MUCH better route to creating something more meaningful with long-lasting success.
Great review on The Pribs ‘From Nothing’ Kindle book. I particularly like your review point about how setting monetary goals can set you up for a train wreck.
This is exactly what I’ve experienced in the past, which incidentally led me to giving up setting monetary goals some time ago. I thought I was being weird, but reading that Pribs actually recommends this strategy is astounding!
Many of us can relate to your frustrating experiences, and I think setting monetary goals with ANY type of online business model is a bad move, in all honesty.
